Worship is heaven on earth. In worship, the Triune God is present with His people in a special and public way. He calls us into His presence to receive His grace and to share in His holiness through the work of the Holy Spirit in the means of grace—especially the sacraments.
Worship can also be understood as rest - simply being with God, quietly and without striving. In worship, God offers us true rest—a time to lay down our burdens, cease from our labours, and allow Him to work in us. Here, we are refreshed—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—as we receive His gifts in peace.
